Nikos Michalakis

I received my Associate’s Degree in Secondary education from WCC (magna cum laude) in 2014 and my BA in science with a major in Psychology from Central Michigan University in 2015 (magna cum laude). Between 2012-2014 I worked as a research assistant for the Emotion and Self Control Lab in University of Michigan under Prof. Dr. Ethan Kross and for the Language and Literacy Lab also in the University of Michigan under Prof. Dr. Ioulia Kovelman during which time I participated in many research projects regarding subjects as emotional regulation, learning, personal perceptions just to name a few. I have acquired great experience in many aspects of research including but not limited to data entry, literature reviews, data coding, guiding participants through experiment procedures etc. In 2019 I started my MSc in Istanbul Bilgi University in Psychological Trauma and Natural Disaster studies and at the moment I’m in the process of finishing my graduate thesis on the effects of the pandemic on the Expat population in Turkey. After working as an educator for many years I started seeing clients for the past 4 years and I also did an internship in Bakirkoy Psychiatric hospital in 2021 under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ejder Akgün Yıldırım. I’ve gotten training in DBT and ACT by Prof. Dr. Dawn Elise Snipes and I’ve worked with clients on a range of psychological issues. I did my psychotherapy supervision for psychological trauma under Prof. Dr. Tamer Aker.
